Kapitel 5
1
Mas, quanto aos tempos e às épocas, irmãos, vocês não precisam que nada lhes seja escrito.
2
Pois vocês mesmos sabem muito bem que o dia do Senhor virá como um ladrão na noite.
3
Pois quando estiverem dizendo: “Paz e segurança”, então a destruição repentina virá sobre eles, como as dores de parto em uma mulher grávida; e de modo nenhum escaparão.
4
Mas vocês, irmãos, não estão nas trevas, para que esse dia os surpreenda como um ladrão.
5
Vocês todos são filhos da luz e filhos do dia. Nós não pertencemos à noite, nem às trevas;
6
portanto, não durmamos, como fazem os demais, mas vigiemos e sejamos sóbrios.
7
Pois os que dormem, dormem de noite; e os que se embriagam, embriagam-se de noite.
8
Mas nós, que pertencemos ao dia, sejamos sóbrios, vestindo a couraça da fé e do amor, e tendo por capacete a esperança da salvação.
9
Pois Deus não nos destinou para a ira, mas para obtermos a salvação por meio de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,
10
que morreu por nós, para que, quer vigiemos, quer durmamos, vivamos juntamente com ele.
11
Portanto, exortem-se uns aos outros e edifiquem-se mutuamente, assim como vocês já o fazem.
12
Mas pedimos a vocês, irmãos, que reconheçam aqueles que trabalham entre vocês, que os presidem no Senhor e os admoestam,
13
e que tenham por eles grande estima e amor, por causa do trabalho que realizam. Vivam em paz uns com os outros.
14
Nós os exortamos, irmãos: Admoestem os desordeiros; encorajem os desanimados; amparem os fracos; sejam pacientes para com todos.
15
Vejam que ninguém retribua mal por mal a ninguém, mas busquem sempre o que é bom uns para com os outros e para com todos.
16
Alegrem-se sempre.
17
Orem sem cessar.
18
Em tudo deem graças, pois esta é a vontade de Deus para vocês em Cristo Jesus.
19
Não apaguem o Espírito.
20
Não desprezem as profecias.
21
Ponham à prova todas as coisas e retenham firmemente o que é bom.
22
Abstenham-se de toda forma de mal.
23
Que o próprio Deus de paz os santifique completamente. Que o espírito, a alma e o corpo de vocês sejam preservados por inteiro, irrepreensíveis na vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
24
Aquele que os chama é fiel, e ele também o fará.
25
Irmãos, orem por nós.
26
Saúdem a todos os irmãos com um beijo santo.
27
Eu lhes ordeno solenemente pelo Senhor que esta carta seja lida a todos os santos irmãos.
28
A graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja com vocês. Amém.
1 Thessalonians
Kapitel 5
1
But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7
For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10
Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
12
And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13
And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15
See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
16
Rejoice evermore.
17
Pray without ceasing.
18
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19
Quench not the Spirit.
20
Despise not prophesyings.
21
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22
Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
25
Brethren, pray for us.
26
Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
27
I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
28
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
