Chapitre 19
1
Melhor é o pobre que anda na sua integridade
do que aquele que é perverso nos seus lábios e é tolo.
2
Não é bom ter zelo sem conhecimento,
nem agir precipitadamente e errar o caminho.
3
A insensatez do homem subverte o seu caminho;
e o seu coração se irrita contra o SENHOR.
4
A riqueza multiplica os amigos,
mas o pobre é separado do seu amigo.
5
A testemunha falsa não ficará impune.
Aquele que profere mentiras não escapará.
6
Muitos buscam o favor do governante,
e todo mundo é amigo de quem dá presentes.
7
Todos os parentes do pobre o desprezam;
quanto mais os seus amigos se afastam dele!
Ele os persegue com súplicas, mas eles já se foram.
8
Quem adquire sabedoria ama a sua própria alma.
Quem guarda o entendimento achará o bem.
9
A testemunha falsa não ficará impune.
Aquele que profere mentiras perecerá.
10
Uma vida de luxo não convém ao tolo,
muito menos a um servo governar sobre os príncipes.
11
A prudência do homem o faz lento para a ira.
É sua glória relevar uma ofensa.
12
A ira do rei é como o rugido de um leão,
mas o seu favor é como o orvalho sobre a relva.
13
O filho tolo é a ruína de seu pai.
As contendas da esposa são como uma goteira contínua.
14
Casa e riquezas são herança dos pais,
mas a esposa prudente vem do SENHOR.
15
A preguiça faz cair em sono profundo.
A alma ociosa padecerá fome.
16
Aquele que guarda o mandamento guarda a sua vida,
mas aquele que despreza os seus caminhos morrerá.
17
Quem se compadece do pobre empresta ao SENHOR;
e ele o recompensará.
18
Discipline o seu filho enquanto há esperança;
não seja cúmplice da sua morte.
19
O homem de grande ira sofrerá o castigo,
pois se você o livrar, terá de fazê-lo de novo.
20
Ouça os conselhos e aceite a instrução,
para que você seja sábio no seu futuro.
21
Há muitos planos no coração do homem,
mas o propósito do SENHOR prevalecerá.
22
O que torna um homem desejável é a sua bondade.
O pobre é melhor do que o mentiroso.
23
O temor do SENHOR conduz à vida, e à satisfação;
aquele que o tem descansa e não será atingido pelo mal.
24
O preguiçoso esconde a mão no prato;
e não se dá ao trabalho nem de levá-la à boca.
25
Açoite o zombador, e os simples aprenderão a prudência;
repreenda a quem tem entendimento, e ele ganhará conhecimento.
26
Aquele que rouba o seu pai e expulsa a sua mãe
é um filho que causa vergonha e traz desonra.
27
Meu filho, se você parar de ouvir a instrução,
você se desviará das palavras de conhecimento.
28
A testemunha corrupta zomba da justiça,
e a boca dos ímpios devora a iniquidade.
29
Os castigos estão preparados para os zombadores,
e os açoites para as costas dos tolos.

Chapitre 19
1
Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
2
Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
3
The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
4
Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
5
A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
6
Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
7
All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.
8
He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
9
A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.
10
Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11
The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
12
The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
13
A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
14
House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.
15
Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
17
He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
18
Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
19
A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.
20
Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21
There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
22
The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
23
The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
24
A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25
Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
26
He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.
27
Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.
28
An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
29
Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
